Support for Young Carers

Young carers are people under 18 who look after somebody in their family who is ill, disabled, has mental health problems or is misusing drugs or alcohol.

Young carers deserve the same opportunities as all children. Our aim is to reduce the negative impacts of the caring role, using a whole family approach.  We provide individual and group support for young carers, as well as advice for their family.

Look at our young carer postcard, This is Charlie.  Do you look after someone like Charlie does?…

We support carers of all ages looking after a friend or family member who is ill, disabled, has mental health problems or is misusing drugs or alcohol. Anyone can be a carer, at any time in their life. At Newcastle Carers we know how hard it can be to look after someone, and we’re here to help with information, advice and support.
