Focus group invitation letter for carers, written by Newcastle City Council
We know that caring for someone can very rewarding but, we also know that it can be difficult at times. Caring for someone throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has brought additional challenges as services have reduced or closed and we acknowledge and thank you for all the support that you’ve given and continue to give.
The pandemic has changed the ways in which we work and with that our thinking on the current offer of support for people new to a caring role or for those already in a caring role.
We would like to work alongside and in partnership with carers to make improvements and to ensure that we have a way for carers to be actively involved in shaping support to carers in the future
We would like to invite you to take part in a focus group (small discussion group) on Wednesday 28 July from 11am until 12.30pm about this. This focus group will provide an opportunity for you to share your experiences of caring during the pandemic and what changes you would like to see.
More information will be sent out before the focus group takes place but in particular, we would like to know about
- What you need to support you in your caring role
- How you would like to receive that support
- Carers Assessments
- Carers Breaks
This is the first of what we see as an ongoing opportunity for carers to be involved in shaping the way in which our services are delivered now and in the future and will take place online via a Teams Meeting. This meeting will also include discussion on the best ways to reach out to carers who may not be able to access online services and support to ensure we include the views of as many carers as possible.
If you would like to take part in this or any future focus group, please let us know by contacting Fiona Richardson, Carers Lead Officer on 07970626326 or by emailing [email protected]
If you are unable to attend this focus group but would like to share your experiences, again, please contact Fiona who will be happy to support you to do this.
