Information, support and advice

    There are a range of organisations that provide information, advice and support to young adult carers, including:

    Newcastle Young Carers

    This service is provided by Barnardo's. They provide support to young carers and young adult carers who look after a family member who has an illness or disability and could not manage without their help.

    Our Young Adult Carer Worker Claire works closely with Newcastle Young Carers to provide dedicated information and support to young adult carers.

    Streetwise offer a whole host of information, advice and guidance on a full range of subjects to young people aged 11yrs – 25yrs, including;

    • Sexual health and relationships
    • C Card (free condom scheme)
    • Chlamydia & gonorrhoea testing
    • Drugs and alcohol
    • Counselling
    • Emotional well-being and mental health (help with stress, anxiety and depression)
    • Sexual exploitation
    • Personal Safety
    • Homophobia
    • Careers, Education and training
    • One to One and small group advice

    SKINT? Advice 4 Life

    Welfare rights, benefits support, debt advice, money management and employability drop-ins

    The new SKINT? Open access drop-in sessions will take place at Streetwise with no appointment necessary on:

    • Mondays, 2pm – 4pm
    • Thursdays, 12noon – 4pm
    • Fridays, 2pm – 4pm

    You can also get support from a Citizens Advice specialist advice worker and Citizens Advice volunteers.
