Young adult carers are young people aged 18-25 year old who help to look after a relative or friend with a long term illness or disability, mental illness or an addiction, who could not manage without their support.
Being a carer is always a challenge, and for 18-25 year old carers there are often a lot of other pressures to face as they are growing up and making key decisions in their lives that will help to shape their entire future.
At Newcastle Carers we have a dedicated Young Adult Carer Worker, Claire Briston.
Young adult carers may find all areas of our Information Hub useful, however in our "Young Adult Carers" section we provide information about organisations and services that are specifically relevant to those aged 18-25 years old.
Download the guide "Know your Rights" from the "Download Now" button at the top for useful information, support and to find out about your rights as a young adult carer.
In this category there are three sections to visit:
Visit each section to find out information about young adult carers and the organisations that can help 18-25 year olds who are moving into adulthood with the additional responsibilities of a caring role.
