Caring role and rights

Receiving information at the right time can make a big difference. It can allow you to feel better informed about caring. In this section we will give more information to help you understand about your rights as a carer, in particular we cover the Care Act 2014. We also give you information about organisations that can help you throughout your journey as a carer - from diagnosis to when a caring role ends.

Our Caring role and Rights section covers useful information and details of organisations that may be able to help and support you. Before visiting each section there are two useful booklets available to download from the "Download Now" button at the top. Download:

    • "A practical guide to healthy caring" - NHS guide which provides information about caring and how you can look after your own health when caring for someone.

    • "Looking after someone" - Carers UK guide for anyone caring for a family member or friend. The guide covers rights as a carer, and cover practical and financial information.

Also, see "The Golden guide" - a guide for Newcastle and North Tyneside with practical information, local contacts and how to get help from the experts. Topics include Health, Care, Money, Your Home plus all kinds of leisure activities, sport, socialising and hobbies. Copies from our Centre, libraries, care teams, and other outlets, ring 0191 386 5918 for details.

There are 4 sections to visit in our Caring role and rights section:

Visit each section to gain information and details for the organisations that can help you.
