Carer friendly communities are aware about the issues that carers face. From shops and cafés to GP surgeries and hospitals, members of the community are geared up to support carers and recognise the invaluable role they play.
It could be a hairdresser who gives out leaflets to customers about their local Carers’ Centre. It could be a GP who lets every carer know about the services available to them. It could be a local business who changes their employment policies to accommodate staff who are carers.
These examples could make the world of difference to carers who are finding it hard to cope. Is your community carer friendly?
We are asking local businesses to sign up to our We Care project.
If you see our 'We Care' sticker on a Shields Road shop window, their staff have committed to making Byker a carer friendly community.
If you are a local business on Shields Road, and you would like to help us make Byker a carer friendly community, get in touch!
