Supporting carers in Newcastle

Newcastle Carers is seeking to appoint a Young & Young Adult Carers Worker, 37 hour per week, NJC 17-20, Starting Salary £23,836.

We are seeking to appoint a Young & Young Adult Carers Worker to work particularly, but not exclusively, with young adult carers aged 16-25 individually and in groups, providing information, advice and support. Using a person-centred and outcomes-focused approach, to help them identify priorities, plan actions and achieve changes.

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the relevant issues that affect carers and the legislation and policies that impact their lives.

You will be able to demonstrate and understanding of delivering in a community setting and a good understanding of statutory services including children’s and adults social care and safeguarding. You must be able to develop effective external relationships, have a strong commitment to inclusive team-working and the ability to adopt a flexible and innovative approach. You must also have excellent organisational skills, good interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of IT.
