Supporting carers in Newcastle

We are seeking to recruit a Young Carers & Carers Groups and Activities Worker, 37 hour per week, NJC 9-12, Starting Salary £20,344.

We are seeking to appoint a Young Carers & Carers Groups and Activities Worker to develop and deliver groups and activities for carers, including the involvement of volunteers/sessional staff in group sessions.

You will work with young and young adult carers individually and in a group setting, using an outcomes focused approach to help them have the same opportunities as other children and young people. The post will support a step-down, preventative approach and on-going support for young and young adult carers.

You will also develop and support the delivery of a programme groups and activities for adult carers, principally through support and deployment of our group volunteers.

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people and be able to demonstrate knowledge of the relevant issues that affect carers and the legislation and policies that impact their lives.

You will be able to demonstrate and understanding of delivering in a community setting and a good understanding of statutory services including children’s and adults social care and safeguarding. You must be able to develop effective external relationships, have a strong commitment to inclusive team-working and the ability to adopt a flexible and innovative approach. You must also have excellent organisational skills, good interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of IT.
