Newcastle Carers is a successful independent charity, historically providing a range of services to unpaid adult carers. Following an open, competitive tendering process we were awarded the jointly commissioned local authority and CCG carers support contract for Newcastle upon Tyne. The new service began on 1 November 2018 and addresses the needs of all carers, regardless of age, therefore providing an integrated service for young, young adult and adult carers, so anywhere between 5 and 95 years of age.
We have an established, skilled and experienced Board of trustees but recognise we need to broaden our knowledge and understanding regarding children and young people. We are therefore seeking motivated and committed individuals to join the Board.
If you have recent working knowledge in this area and are interested in making a positive difference for young carers and their families in Newcastle then we’d like to hear from you.
It is important to us that our Board reflects the diversity of the beneficiaries of our work, as such we aim to recruit a Board which reflects the people we are supporting. So, we welcome applicants from all sections of our community irrespective of age, disability, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation or other personal circumstances.
Timescales and Fees
It is expected that fulfilling the role of Trustee will require the equivalent of approximately 5 days per year.
The role of Trustee of the Newcastle Carers is voluntary although reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed according to the rates agreed by the Board.
