Work and education

Being a carer does not mean you have to give up work. However, for some, it can often be a stressful and challenging time due to juggling both roles. We look at organisations that give information about carers' rights and guidance around being supported at work.

In this section we'll also look at getting back into learning and education. This may be particularly useful for those who have been out of the work environment for some time due to their caring responsibilities.

We also look at volunteering and information about getting into volunteering.

Gateshead Carers have developed a useful online eLearning course to support employers and carers who are working and also looking after someone. The aim of the course is to raise awareness and increase understanding about the caring role. There's lots of different topics and useful resources. To access the eLearning course, see here.

In this category there are 3 sections:

Visit each section to find out more information and find out about the organisations that can help you further.
