    Carers are particularly at risk of developing mental health problems as a result of their caring role. Looking after your mental health is just as important as keeping physically fit and healthy.

    Help from NHS services

    Information about services provided by the NHS which can provide information about mental health, and also help and support you.

    Help from Voluntary and Charity organisations

    There are some voluntary and charity organisations that work to help and support those affected by mental health problems. Find information, help or support on the following links:

    • Moving Forward - a range of resources and information about mental health. Also, visit their website to be put you in touch with activities in your area.
    • Tyneside Women’s Health - services to improve women’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
    • Samaritans - national charity providing lots of information on their website. Also, find local support using the website's "Find your nearest branch" search facility.
    • Newcastle Carers Counselling service - free counselling service to give carers' the opportunity to talk about their problems in a confidential and safe environment.
